Cavajal Labrador Retrievers

Mick - USA Import

Introducing Bodacious Aquarius at Cavajal RE (Imp USA)

AKA "Mick"

Mick has arrived! After failing his first 2 Titer tests because he didn't build sufficient antibodies against the rabies virus (I suspect he was just having too good a time with Gayle Abrams from Candyacres Labradors), Mick has finally touched down on Terra Australis!  Why Mick? - We had thoughts of incorporating Mick Dundee in this boy's name - coming from roughly NY area.... but we couldn't fit it in!

Dr Kathy Sneider from Aquarius Labradors picked Mick as a six week old puppy and we have been hoping against hope that her choice was well made.

Kathy owns Mick's grandfather - Am Can MBISS, MBIS, Ch Aquarius Centrecourt Delight JH (Buzz).  Buzz and his progeny have featured at Westminster and Potomac over the past decade.  Curiously, Mick's father is Ozzie - Ch Lobuff's Hollyidge Osprey. Ozzie's litter sister, Kiskadee won BOB at Westminster under Australian judge, Guy Spagnolo.  Ozzie's parents are both long time and consistent producers of quality Labradors - Ch BISS, BIS Sure Shot Hyspire Impressive and MBISS, MBIS Lobuff's Turtle Dove.

We believe that Mick is the first Rally titled Labrador in Australia!  What's rally? - I don't know, but Gayle did get lost at times! - It is an obedience title, and apparently Mick had very few problems attaining his title.

Mick has been handled by some of the best show handlers in the USA.  He pointed in 5 shows, and won Opposite Sex in Sweepstakes at the 2008 USA Labrador National in Georgia in November.

Mick has a litter on the ground in the USA. His black litter was line bred to his maternal grandfather. The mother of this litter is a Lobuff Holyridge Sandpiper / Travis daughter. He has been frozen and gives generously by all reports.

Mick is a PRA carrier.  He has been OFA prelimed with a "good" hips and "normal" elbows. Mick has 0:0 elbows and 2:2 hips

Mick is a gorgeous yellow boy with lovely head coat tail. Not only has Mick a beautiful temperament and soft nature, he is also passing this to his progeny.

Mick won the Intermediate dog class at the SA Lab Club Specialty under breed specialist Margaret Brown, and placed in bothe the Melbourne and Adelaide Royal Shows.  In the field, Mick goes like the clappers and secured his QC at his first attempt! His swimming style needs some improvement, but he is so willing to please and eager to learn.

"Liked this yellow for his balance and type, masculine head & expression, perhaps a little strong than would be my ideal however, he made up for this with his overall construction, coat and tail are first class, so sound in movement, strong neck with excellent shoulder angulation, perhaps carrying a little more weight here than I would personally have liked but a quality dog with such a great deal to like about him, won the class on his sound construction and overall conformation, moved soundly, I see he is a import from the USA and I am sure that he will be able to pass his excellent construction and type to his puppies."
